Backstory

Hailing from a rather influential family in Sharlayan, Vares had his life set in stone since he was born. Alchemy and aether study was all he could recall from his childhood, along with his little brother Claude. The intensive study, however, was proven to be too much for him, and he began to fail in his teenage years, something that would bring conflict with his father in the following years. He found solace in befriending a lalafell named Anana Nana (who was rumored to be related to a member of the Syndicate), who has been his childhood friend and classmate in Studium.

He yearned to break free from his life, but found himself unable to do so as being in academia was something he only know, and reluctantly climbed his career up as a Studium's Aetherology professor.

While his career was doing fine on the surface, he would often experience breakdowns in his time alone.

At 50, Vares decided he had enough of his academia life and stormed off from Sharlayan. With Nana's help, he managed to land an illegal job as a body disposer in an assassination agency called Chronos. Using his Alchemy skill and knowledge in Aether manipulation, he supplied the agency's restorative potions.

It was during this time he met Rigel, who was also Nana's associate. It didn't take long for them to eloped. But those who know them knew that there was something unusual between them...

As he used his knowledge of aether manipulation and alchemy to work, he soon found himself able to replicate the rumored potion 'Fantasia', which properties can permanently change one's aether composition, or to put it simply, body. His research was still imperfect, however, and it would be a long, arduous journey.

  • Vares is polite, well-mannered but sometime mischievous. Will sometime pull a prank on his friends.

  • Despite his hatred of his old job, he likes to lecture. Don't give him the chance to explain how aether manipulation works...

  • Vares would avoid anyone from Sharlayan, whether you're a former colleague or student. You could try to poke him, however...

  • Does crossdress from time to time, but he is still male at heart.

  • Vares will get along with anyone whose hobby is reading. He likes reading spicy novels but is too shy to admit it.

  • Vares is not very fond of physical interaction and will cover his skin a lot.

  • Because of his expertise in alchemy, he would often be wary of any concoction given to him.

  • Can't hold his liquor well either; therefore, he rarely drink.

  • Bring a dice with him everywhere because he likes to gamble his choice

  • Vares may constantly refer anyone younger than him as 'child', 'girl' or 'boy'. After all, he is pretty old.

  • Vares and Rigel are happily married, but both are open in their relationship.

  • Currently working on various odd, sometimes dirty jobs to fund his research on 'Fantasia'.
